Child support Calculator; did the court (lawyer or case worker) explain these things to you?

They are supposed to explain these things to you at court. How many of you are explained to about these things? and if not, how do you learn about the laws where you are? The honor system doesn’t work. Its child SUPPORT, not child TRUST FUND. All of our states are tired of paying for children that the parent (male or female) doesn’t pay for. there IS an online support Calculator.ARREARS: arrears will follow them, no matter what they do.their wages are attached (then some suddenly become ‘laid off’ or work under the table [money is their God]). Once it reaches a certain amount, Its listed on their credit report, their tax refunds (state and federal) are intercepted, drivers license taken away, their property can have a lien put on it, and they are put in jail for small periods of time (released for a small portion) etc. if he tries to run over state line to avoid child support, its now a federal offense. DOES anyone explain these to you? How helpful are they?

i am glad they teach that there, for being aware is the key. here in NJ they dont teach it in school. i think they should…good idea. thanks 
some people dont know what to ask, thats the problem. its supposed to be explained, so to prevent any inflaming of the situation. here are some federal links if your case worker isnt on the ball. write your regional federal office; they can turn on the heat. this supportkids org will go after them worse then the IRS, attaching everything they find.

I have spoken with hundreds of single mothers (the org I work for), I hear some on here whining about how the woman gets the car, or house, or money. They fail to see those items are for their children, to raise them, get them to the doctors and provide necessities (electric, food, diapers, tylenol, back to school supplies, etc). They fail to see that if it were just the woman, she could rent a one room apartment (for far less then if she had a child), or that the childs needs come before anyone elses, hers or his. Ignore these guys whom look for loopholes not to take care of their kids. Money is their God.

All I have to say is DUH…if you’re going through a divorce and child support is involved one should be intelligent enough to ASK about these things. I knew ALL about everything you spoke of LONG before I was even married let alone divorced. It is called “being aware”. Some of these things are even discussed in highschool courses such as Economics/Home & Careers/ That is oneof the many reasons one needs to focus on their school work and pay attention in classes…they DO teach this stuff.
I know exactly what you mean.I did’nt know until I researched it myself.She tried to leave the state and within 4 months she was arrested.She’s such a deadbeat.It’s been 3 years since she made her last payment and her credit is completely ruined.I think it’s funny now because it makes it just about impossible for her to come see her son.She should of made her minimum payments.Thanks for the info
Does anyone explain to you that the mother is responsible just as much as the father is for bringing the baby into this world? Is it a given the mother goes on public aid because she was not responsible to go on birth control? What I’m trying to say is it takes two. Everybody is so against the “supposed” deadbeat dads. Do you know how much child support costs each father? Alot more than what it costs to raise the child. And then the mother uses that support money for alot of other things instead of where it was supposed to go. And that includes the new boyfriend who is eating food that is supposed to be for my kids. I have seen so many instances where the mother misuses child support money. Somewhere the mothers have to be held accountable as well. They have to stop thinking of their kids as dollar signs. Yes, I’m one angry father who overpays in child support, which has forced me to move back home. Alot of guys barely make enough cash to support themselves, let alone another family. And don’t say they should have thought of that before they made the baby. The mother was right there too during conception. How about holding her accountable as well?
Supportkids.com is not an answer for obtaining child support. I contacted them after 10 years of getting child support once in a blue moon. It has been almost a year and they haven’t collected a dime, nor will they when they call him once every month or two. (last call was early November and it is now the end of December). If you ask them questions, they just give canned answers about how they are running “reports”. How hard is it to track someone down when they have the persons social security number??? They got my hopes up for nothing….this deadbeat dad is still a dead beat….and probably always will be.
